Artist's Comment: " I was hiking in West Virginia and had unsucessfully tried to see Ruffed Grouse in the woods. As I was walking back to camp, I heard a noise and looked up, and there on a rocky outcropping was a grouse! I quickly made some sketches of this wary game bird before it flew back into the heavy brush."
